Summer 2009
Want a $1,500 Federal Tax Credit ?
Why not get it by slashing your utility bills?
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 offers homeowners like you a golden opportunity to get a tax credit from the government as a reward for saving energy, which in turn reduces your monthly utility bills. It’s a win-win-win scenario not to be missed, and we can help you take full advantage of the program.

First, look at some of the major steps you can take to make your home dramatically more energy efficient. Each involves an upgrade to new technology. Which one is right for you depends on two things. How overdue you are for an upgrade to begin with. And how much you’ll save in energy costs by making the upgrade.

The upgrade areas that will most likely make you eligible to recoup up to 30% of your costs with a $1,500 tax credit are heating systems, air conditioning systems and water heaters. But even if these systems are new in your home and operating at peak efficiency, things are still looking up for the conservation minded.

Another Helpful Hint

Older toilet tanks flush away 3.5 to 5 gallons of water every time you hit that handle. Upgrading to a new more efficient 1.6 gallon flusher means you can reduce your water bill substantially. You’ll also eliminate problems with clogged toilets. For more detailed information visit www.totousa.com.

Summer Plumbing and Special Savings Update

Heat Your House, and Cool Your Costs!

A new heating system will make you eligible for a maximum tax credit of 30% of your out-of-pocket costs, up to $1,500. Eligible are boilers with efficiency greater or equal to 90%, and forced hot air furnaces greater or equal to 95% efficiency. For more information, visit www.energysavers.gov.

A New AC System May Be the Ticket for You.

The efficiency of an air conditioner is often rated by the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER)*, as defined by the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute. The higher the SEER rating of a unit, the more energy efficient it is.

Standard air conditioners have a SEER rating of 10. Even a 13 SEER rated system will save 38% in electric costs. Systems that are eligible for a rebate have a SEER rating equal or greater than 16 and an Ok EER rating of 13 or better. We are an American Standard® Heating and Air Conditioning distributor. Not just because they are at the top of the list on Consumer Reports, but because they deserve to be there based on our years of experience with the brand.

·The SEER rating is the BTU of cooling output during a typical cooling-season divided by the total electric energy input.

Now put your sunscreen on and look up.

Solar equals savings. And, with a modest up-front investment a solar system will save you money over the long haul, plus it will qualify you for that tax credit.
